Intel Puts Digital Rights Management (DRM) into their New Dual Core Pentium D and 945 Chipsets

According to the magazine Digit, Itel is incorperating Microsofts DRM at the motherboard level, thus preventing copying of DRM protected copyrighted materials.  On May 26, when the new chip and chipset were officially released, Itel steered awayfrom mentioning the DRM feature, but in Australia the Australian Technical Manager, Graham Tucker, confirmed its inclusion.

In further outside contorl news they included another new feature called Advanced Managment Technology (AMT) that allows network managers to contol the computer, Independant of its Operating System.

A sub feature of the AMT is "IDE Redirection" which allorws the remote administator to enable/disable, format, and/or configure each drive plus remotely install, restore, or replace software, Including the Operating System... totally independant of the computers operating system.

Now for a secodremember that the internet is one BIG Network.  Would you want people like goverment, thieves, corperations, and bad guy hackers to have that kind of access and control overyour computer?
